The platform has to work even on the day everyone uses it at once.
A school year has a few days with a very high data flow: the first day of enrollment, the exam session, the publishing of results. The infrastructure that works reasonably the rest of the year often fails on the very day it is most visible.
At the same time, educational institutions process personal data of pupils and students — including minors, a category for which GDPR provides specific protection — and manage open networks, with thousands of devices that don't belong to the institution. All this, usually, with an IT team of one or two people and a budget approved annually.
Especially for higher-education institutions, the diversity of electronic services offered to teaching staff and students is extremely large. All of these rely on an infrastructure capable of handling tens of thousands of accounts, tens of thousands of concurrent data sessions, specific access to international publication networks, educational platforms, laboratories, etc.
We work with organizations that have predictable load peaks and small teams. We know how to size an infrastructure for the peak day, not for the yearly average.
Six situations we encounter in educational institutions
The platform crashes exactly on enrollment day or in the middle of the exam session.
The infrastructure is sized for an ordinary working day. The problem appears on the day everyone accesses it at once, often crashing completely.
The campus network is an open network, treated like an office network.
Thousands of personal devices, with no segmentation between the student network, the administrative one and the laboratory one. One infected device reaches everywhere.
Processing data without the documentation to prove how it's protected.
Pupils' and students' data is processed, but no one can demonstrate the methods by which it is kept safe. In the case of a request to attest that the data is indeed protected, the answer is often built on the spot.
The IT team is made up of one or two people for several thousand users.
It has to provide support for teachers, laboratories, the secretariat, platforms, the network, etc. It's almost impossible to create a working process with prioritization and documentation, primarily due to lack of time.
Laboratory equipment and old applications that the institution cannot replace.
Software an entire discipline depends on runs on systems without updates and is connected to the same network as the rest of the institution.
The backup runs, but a full restore hasn't been tested.
Registers, papers, admission files, archives — all are data that cannot be reconstituted if lost. A backup whose full restore hasn't been tested doesn't guarantee you'll recover this data in case of compromise.
If your institution finds itself in any of the situations above, an assessment puts on paper exactly what needs to be solved before the next critical period and what can wait.
The ITPS approach in educational institutions
Monitoring and intervention, with coverage during critical periods.
Through our Managed Services, critical systems — the educational platform, servers, the network, the secretariat — are monitored continuously. Contracts explicitly cover peak periods: admissions, exam session, enrollments. Response times are set by contract and SLA.
Sizing for the peak, not for the average.
Virtual servers in our Tier III datacenter, with resources that can be adjusted for critical periods, without buying hardware that sits unused most of the year.
Campus network segmentation.
We separate the student network from the administrative one and the laboratory one, so that an infected personal device doesn't reach the institution's systems.
Isolation of equipment and applications that can no longer be updated.
We segment the network so that old lab software keeps working, without exposing the rest of the infrastructure.
Backup and documented restore tests.
We don't consider a backup functional until its restore has been tested and recorded. Data can be replicated in our Timișoara datacenter, on Romanian territory.
A whole team alongside the internal team.
The infrastructure is documented: configurations, procedures, intervention history. And if you already have an in-house IT specialist, we work alongside them, complementing their skills.
The relevant services for educational institutions
Of the six main services we offer, four are of particular importance for an educational institution:
Managed Services →
Systems monitoring and incident intervention, with coverage explicitly contracted for the admissions and exam-session periods.
Virtual Servers (VPS) →
Educational and administrative platforms run on infrastructure from our Tier III datacenter, with resources adjustable for peaks and data on Romanian territory.
Backup & Disaster Recovery →
Backups for registers, files, papers and the archive, with documented restore tests.
IT Audit & Consulting →
A complete analysis of the IT environment: where the campus network is exposed, what the protection of pupils' data requires, which remediation takes priority before the next critical period.
Compliance and certifications
Educational institutions process personal data of pupils and students, including minors — a category for which GDPR provides specific protection. ITPS operates its own Tier III datacenter, with ISO 27001:2022 (information security) and ISO 9001 (quality management) certifications, and data stays on Romanian territory. We don't promise to „make you compliant" — compliance remains your institution's responsibility. What we do concretely: implement the technical measures, build the documentation that proves them and sign the data processing agreements.
Avem peste 80 de certificări pentru platformele pe care rulează afacerea dumneavoastră. Colaborăm cu 20 de furnizori de tehnologie best-of-breed.

Request an assessment of your institution's IT infrastructure.
An ITPS engineer analyzes the current state of your infrastructure together with you: whether it withstands the peak of the next exam session, where the network is exposed, what the protection of pupils' and students' data requires.
We reply within the next business day.
